Axe converted into a Hatchet (2)

A technical innovation of the Neolithic period was drilling. In order to connect a rock stone axe directly to the shaft, it had to be provided with a shaft hole. To do this, a hollow stick of elder wood or a tubular bone was made to rotate with a fiddle bow. With the addition of sand and water, a hole was drilled in the body of the axe.
