Bronze Basin (1)

As early as the 19th century, the two so-called hanging basins and the smaller belt hump were discovered in a bog near Bad Oldesloe. Very similar bronze basins come from the hoard find at Kronshagen (display case 79); their exact use has not been clarified to this day. The small hump was worn like a buckle on the belt. The bronzes represented a high value for their owner, their deposition in the bog was therefore a precious gift to the gods.
