The coin hoard had been buried in a stoneware jar on a farm during wartime. The 159 silver coins were minted within twenty years between 1365 and 1379. Minting places are Hamburg, Kiel, Lüneburg and Lübeck, but above all Rostock, Stralsund and Wismar. Some coins come from Sweden. All in all, the Luhdorf find is an unusually uniform treasure which, however, did not represent great wealth in its time.
