Cross Fibula with Glass Inlays (1)

By wearing fibulae with Christian symbolism, women illustrated their affiliation to the new faith. The disc-shaped specimens come from various graves in the Wulfsen cemetery. They were a regular mass article during their time between the Elbe and the Rhine. The cross-shaped clasp was found in a Saxon settlement on Hamburg's Domplatz.
