The objects on display from the Harburg district represent direct traces of the Second World War. Because of its industrial facilities, Harburg was a preferred target of Allied bombing raids between 1943 and 1945. A large part of the bomb fragments from Wulmstorf, including the remains of a stick fire bomb, date from 1944, when the Harburg area was particularly badly hit. Part of a large bomb from this time is the fuse with screw thread on display. The fragmentation hand grenade found by the explosive ordnance disposal service on the grounds of the former Scharnhorst barracks in Harburg dates back to the First World War.
